Portia Simpson Miller is the former Prime Minister of Jamaica who was born in December 1945. She is now seventy-seven years old. She is acknowledged as one of the most popular Prime Ministers of the Caribbean.
She was ranked as one of the 100 Most Influential people in the world by TIME Magazine in 2012.
She was also the Minister of Defense, Information and Sports. At another time she was Minister of Labour, Social Security and Sports.
She is the first woman since Jamaican independence, to serve twice as Prime Minister and they were not consecutive times; v2006-2007 and 2012-2016.
Mrs. Portia Simpson was named Person of The Year by two Jamaican newspapers -The Observer and The Gleaner.
She retired from a successful political career in 2017. She is a member of the Council of Women World Leaders. It is an international network of current and former female presidents and prime ministers.
